Here's a simple recipe for homemade dog treats that's easy to make and healthy for your furry friend:

Sweet Potato and Carrot Dog Treats

  • 2 large sweet potatoes, cooked and mashed
  • 1 cup grated carrots
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon canned pumpkin puree
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the sweat potatoes with a fork until they're smooth.
  3. Add the grated carrots, egg and pumpkin puree to the bowl. Mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour to the bowl, mixing until a dough forms.
  5. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use a cookie cutter or a glass to cut out shapes.
  6. Place the shapes on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned.
  7. Allow the treats to cool completely before serving to your dog.

These treats are not only delicious, but they're also healthy and easy to make using sweet potatoes and carrots as natural sources of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. The pumpkin puree adds a nutritious and easily digestible ingredient.  The whole wheat flour adds fiber and texture.

Remember to always check with your vet before introducing new foods or treats to your dog's diet, especially if they have food allergies or sensitivities. Happy baking!
